A brief introduction to myself. My name is René Frieda Schwarz; I chose it myself, have been living with it for quite some time, but it has not yet been officially registered. My greatest passion is beauty – enchanting sounds, well-formed attractive objects, delicate shells with a frail, strengthening core. I adore Gustav Mahler's music, indulge in Stravinsky's pieces, gaze in awe at El Greco, Goya or Giacometti, lose myself in the works of Carlo Molino, Sonja Delaunay, the opulent, now unfortunately atypical and seemingly outdated jewellery of the Rococo period, the stories of the three Manns, the dramas of Schiller, the paradoxes of Oscar Wilde, the political works of Lion Feuchtwanger, the delicate works of Simone de Beauvoir, and the harsh works of Annie Ernaux.
So I myself have been more devoted to literature, the fine arts and composition. Jewellery, or as I see it - objects for the body, have only captivated me for almost three years. I am fascinated by how jewellery, despite its solid, enduring and reasonably practical form, expresses the fluctuating nature of aesthetic disciplines – so I also incorporate my passion into the design language of my pieces and work in a way that is more conceptual than result-oriented, interested in the statement made by the object. Often however, objects are created purely according to my taste and stand as jewellery made for people, made for me. I prefer to use the techniques of guilloché, 3D modelling and enamelling. In addition, I have learned how to set different stone cuts, silversmithing, chasing, engraving and the standard repertoire of a goldsmith.
